King of New York

WHAT What is the main theme, story or key idea?
In King of New York, 2 – 6 players take on the role of furious monsters rampaging through the streets of New York and fighting against other creatures with the goal of asserting their dominance and becoming the King of New York.
HOWHow do the key mechanics and ideas work?
Players will firstly choose their deadly monster, take their monster board, set their life points to 10 and position their victory points to 0. A monster will win the game by either eliminating every other monster’s life points or by achieving 20 victory points. On a turn, players will roll 6 dice and depending on what they roll, they’ll be able to perform a variety of actions such as combat, healing and collecting energy cube resources. Energy cubes can be spent to purchase power up cards which provide bonuses to monsters such as gaining powers or additional dice. Monsters will be competing to take control of districts in Manhattan which provide victory points and additional perks. Players can also choose to re-roll the dice a certain number of times to secure the roll they need to succeed.
WHY Why is King of New York worth your time?
King of New York features some exciting new developments for the series such as the addition of a passive defensive military that attacks monsters as well as destructible buildings that truly make players feel like a rampaging monster.
