How do the key mechanics and ideas work?
Each turn takes place over 4 phases, exploration, hunting, reckoning and end of turn actions. Firstly, each of the hunted will play one place card which represents the location they are choosing to explore. It’s important to keep this location a secret so as not to alert the creature. During the hunt phase, the creature will use hunt cards, their creature token and the artemia card to explore multiple locations. After the creature has chosen where to hunt, the hunted’s place cards will be revealed showing where each survivor has moved to. Each location offers a different power and if the creature is not in their location, a survivor may use its power or take back a place card from their discard pile. The creature should take note of any cards reclaimed as it may hint at where the survivors are planning to move to next.
