How do the key mechanics and ideas work?
Each player must use different tactics if they wish to succeed. Jack is nimbler and faster meaning he always goes first, whilst the giant is slower but becomes significantly more powerful over the course of the game. There are various cards stacks in the game representing Jack’s beanstalks and the Giants castle. Resembling the rules of Solitare, lower numbers must be stacked below higher numbers but don’t have to be in sequential order. Once a beanstalk stack consists of six cards, it has been completed and Jack can place one of his three treasures on the top. Jack may only work on one active beanstalk at a time and must complete his current one before moving on to the next. Whilst Jack is building beanstalks, the Giant will be focusing on removing cards or disrupting the order of cards to hinder Jacks progress whilst attempting to line up his Fee, Fi, Fo and Fum cards to ultimately win the game.
